Relief, Basins and Resources

The Relief Basins and Resources (RBR) team is interested in the evolution and dynamics of the lithosphere, particularly through the study of sedimentary basins, using sedimentological, diagenetic, structural, geochemical, geochronological and geophysical approaches. The major stages and mechanisms behind the evolution of these basins, particularly in the intraplate domain, are reconstructed. The main themes addressed concern (i) the links between depositional environments and the diagenetic evolution of reservoirs (control over storage), (ii) the transfer of matter from erosion zones to depositional zones (source-to-sink approach), (iii) the drivers and methods of fluid circulation at the origin of resource accumulation (metals, geothermal energy) and (iv) the geodynamic control over these various phenomena.
